Demir participated in many group exhibitions including at Cermodern and Bucharest Palace of Parliament and held four solo exhibitions.
Şahin Demir, who received the Peker Art award, RH + Young Artist of the Year award, has already attracted an audience in Ankara where he currently resides and his works have entered numerous collections. For his first exhibition in Istanbul, Demir draws inspiration from Pablo Neruda’s famous poem “Keeping Quiet” and comes forward with portraits created in acrylic and oil paint.
With the colors and paints he prefers in his compositions, Demir brings forward the contrasts created by chaos, noise and movement, inviting the viewer to be still and listen to the silence of the works, even if it is for a second.
“For once on the face of the earth,
let’s not speak in any language;
let’s stop for one second,
and not move our arms so much.”
