Orkide Akkoç, who was born in Germany in 1975, completed her undergraduate education at Hacettepe University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Graphic Design Department. Akkoç, who performed personal exhibitions on different art platforms, took part in many group exhibitions both at home and abroad, especially the Elgiz Museum, PG Art Gallery and Gallery İlayda.
Artist at “Heartcore”, her first solo exhibition at Sevil Dolmacı Art Lab, is drawning a path based on heart and love issues. Orkide Akkoç, the storyteller of Heartcore, expresses her story around the themes of heart, love, emotion, and frequency using fiberglass, metal and textile materials.
“It can only be opened from the inside, its memory is stronger than the memory of the brain. It can speak without words, can hear without words… The heart.
When we love, the heart of another person becomes a home, homeland, hometown for us.
And hearts face spasm in front of the coldness.
They say that the intelligence of the heart is ahead of the intelligence of the mind.
The extraordinary heart that has its own consciousness and can control our brain and body with its magnetic frequencies …”
Between two different cultures such as Germany and Turkey under the influence of her childhood and early youth, the artist Orkide Akkoç interested in the concept of cultural identity.
She creates a HEIMAT * with different materials, images and heart in her exhibition based on the idea of “My Home is a Heart”.
