Selim Çınar

Born in 1988 in Sakarya, Selim Çınar graduated from Abant İzzet Baysal University, Fine Arts, Education Department in 2010. In 2016, he finished graduate education in Uşak University, Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Ceramic with master thesis “ The Use of Paraffin on Ceramic Surfaces”. He started Phd Art Education at Anadolu University, Institute of Fine Arts, Department of Ceramic in 2016. He participated in national, international and group exhibitions. He received six awards in the field of ceramics and participates in various workshops on ceramic firing techniques. In 2014, he started to work as a research assistant in Selçuk University, Faculty of Arts and Design, Department of Ceramics Design and since 2016, he has been continuing his duty in Anadolu University, Fine Arts Faculty, Ceramic Department. Çınar, focuses on the hidden layers of all earthlings and the universe. The artist emphasizes that all aspects hidden under the persona are actually the truth of man and that the power of the universe is hidden under the shell. These are hidden layers. According to him, when we can see – when we can show these layers, we can perceive existence and universe. The motto of him is “without fear – bravely – show – your inside”. The artist, who benefited from philosophy, analytical psychology and geography, uses figurative and amorphous forms in his works in which refers to the layers of consciousness and he shaping reliefs, holes and colored layers on ceramic surface with paraffin decoration technique.
